Seems our hospital of choice does not allow doulas. Details (in Hebrew) http://www.doula.co.il/Index.asp?ArticleID=501&CategoryID=165&Page=3. However, they say that each midwife is responsible for only 2 laboring women at a time. They're flexible about birthing positions and pain relievers.
I suppose you could still have a doula who you don't identify as such. But perhaps the decision just got easier!
Checked the other 2 Haifa hospitals. Same story.

Well then, that makes that decision easier! With so much attention from a midwife, you will be fine. I'm sure you will have the exact right birth team for you! LOVE! Abby
